Let documents flow – Konica Minolta’s CeBIT Preview

cebit-2015

“Let documents flow” is the Konica Minolta slogan for CeBIT 2015, held 16-20 March in Hanover. At today’s CeBIT Press Preview, the global leader in the consultancy, implementation and management of printing and document solutions in the area of IT and document processes illustrated how the company will present itself in CeBIT Hall 3 where the focus is on ECM and Input/Output Solutions (Booth D36). After 9 years of participation as a co-exhibitor, the CeBIT’s successful relaunch in 2014 as a specialised trade fair that exclusively targets business customers was sufficient reason for Konica Minolta to renew its CeBIT commitment with its own exhibition space.

Unstructured document processes have considerable negative impact on business and ultimately cost companies unnecessary time and money. Estimates say that knowledge workers spend up to 50 per cent of their time looking for specific content items. However, searching for a piece of information for more than half an hour is equivalent to losing the document altogether, because the labour costs associated with hunting a document down outweigh its average value. Surveys show that 7.5 per cent of corporate documents go missing every year, which means one in fourteen is lost.1

To improve their document-based business processes, companies of all sizes and from all industrial sectors depend on Enterprise Content Management systems (ECM) as part of Managed Content Services (MCS). These companies want to get away from their paper-based workflows and force digital business processes, targeting higher efficiency and mobile access from everywhere.

“But we are aware that many companies still see big barriers in going this way of digitalisation. Besides, the cost of printing is just one part of the entire document management costs. Konica Minolta supports companies in driving a less-print strategy by reducing operational expenses and delivering access to information in the most effective manner possible. We help our customers identify their cost factors, quantify these costs, reduce and manage them effectively”, says Olaf Lorenz, General Manager International Marketing Division, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “We know there are tremendous efficiency gains to be made from improving the document management throughout an enterprise. Also, these gains can be achieved without significant capital expenditure, which is why such solutions are especially attractive for small and medium-sized companies.”

The first step is to understand customers’ business processes in terms of document management. The next is to implement improved processes, software and hardware. Once all that is in place, Konica Minolta helps the customer run his infrastructure and update it as needed.

Konica Minolta’s MCS is tailored to the individual digital workflows of customers aiming to increase their operating efficiency. Through its MCS programme, Konica Minolta targets revenues of 100 million dollars worldwide in the coming three years. In 2014 Gartner acknowledged Konica Minolta to be a leader in the field of MCS.2

“The Konica Minolta approach takes the entire document management process into account. This is our specific expertise, which we gained over the past 10 years. And this is the reason why we are now increasing our engagement in MCS/ECM”, explains Olaf Lorenz. With the focus of Hall 3 on „ECM, Input/Output Solutions“ visitors will be offered competent consulting as well as a complete overview of efficient and secure document and print management
solutions.

The award-winning bizhub series MFPs collectively utilize the INFO-Palette design concept for their entire visual and graphic design, from the main body’s outer appearance, panel operation GUI (graphic user interface) and applications (for PC and mobile), all of which are important connection with end users, to promotional materials.

Konica Minolta seen posting 16% profit gain

Konica%20Minolta%20Black%20Background%207

Konica Minolta’s consolidated operating profit is expected to rise 16% on the year to around 45 billion yen ($371 million) for the April-December term.

The figure will be the Japanese company’s highest for the period in six years. Sales of commercial printers are expanding, particularly in Europe, while mainstay multipurpose copiers continue to fare well at home and abroad.

Sales were seen climbing 8% to around 735 billion yen. Konica Minolta has been strengthening its business of printing catalogs and brochures through a British subsidiary it acquired in 2012. While actual printing is subcontracted, the effort boosted sales of its color digital printing systems as well.

Business is also solid in multipurpose copiers and information technology services, mainly in the U.S. and European markets. The company’s business technologies segment, built around printer-related equipment and services, will likely see a large increase in revenue and profit.

The industrial business segment faces struggling sales of digital camera parts as well as a roughly 2 billion yen dent in revenue caused by the company’s departure from making glass substrates for hard drives. But sales of film for liquid crystal displays used in televisions are making up for the losses, and the segment will likely achieve sales on par with last year.

The yen has weakened more than expected, providing an additional tailwind. A drop of 1 yen against the euro boosts the company’s profit by 800 million yen, while a drop of 1 yen against the dollar lifts it 300 million yen.
