Konica_Minolta_jpeg

Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) is pleased to announce that it was ranked first place in the overall manufacturing sector at the 18th Environmental Management Survey conducted by Nikkei Inc.

The annual survey assesses environmental management of Japanese companies and recognizes initiatives toward sustainability in terms of both environment and business management. 1,729 manufacturers were invited to the survey and 419 companies responded.

Konica Minolta has been developing comprehensive environmental initiatives, including environmental management policies that combine reduction of environmental impact and growth in corporate value, plans to increase annual sales ratio of environmentally considerate products (Green Products) and sustainable plastic made with recycled PET and polycarbonate materials for outer casing of multi-functional peripherals (MFPs) for the first time in the industry. In addition, Konica Minolta has been willing to utilize its own environmental know-how beyond the Konica Minolta group for the good of broader society including its customers and suppliers by assisting their environmental activities to lower environmental impact.

At Konica Minolta, energy-saving and resource-saving initiatives are very important not only for reducing carbon emissions but also for enhancing its competitive edges such as cutting down production costs and material use. Environmental activities have been strongly driven throughout the company’s sites around the world. Since last year, the Konica Minolta Group has been transplanting environmental good practices from its own factories to its suppliers’ factories in China so that the suppliers will benefit in reducing environmental impact and strengthening their competitive advantages. Experts from Konica Minolta are working with the suppliers at their factories and helping them analyze energy use and build energy-saving programs.

Konica Minolta’s Environmental Management

Based on its long-term environmental vision “Eco Vision 2050,” Konica Minolta has established the Group’s Medium-Term Environmental Plan 2016 with the target year of fiscal 2016. At the pillar of the medium-term plan are Three Green Activities: Green Products (planning and development); Green Factories (procurement and production); and Green Marketing (distribution, sales & service, and collection & recycling). These activities cover the entire and each process of the Group’s businesses and have been running globally. Through these efforts, Konica Minolta is enhancing its strong corporate basis as a company to create values for society and itself, by helping society solve problems while growing its businesses and increasing its competitive capabilities.

Under the brand proposition “Giving Shape to Ideas,” Konica Minolta will continue offering products and services that are superior in environmental performance out of its bold ideas and innovative technologies and contributing to reduction of environmental impact in global supply chains and worldwide community.

Better Buys for Business Celebrates Konica Minolta, Winner of Innovative Product of the Year 2014

KM black

Konica Minolta has announced that they are the recipient of the BBB Innovative Product of the Year 2014 for its bizhub 654e and 754e models released last year.
The awards, presented annually, are evaluated based on specific features that make the product uniquely innovative. Konica Minolta’s bizhub 654e and 754e have been recognized for embodying the upgraded features to the INFO-Palette design panel, as well as enhanced security features and security compliance.
“Konica Minolta is honored to receive this distinguished recognition,” says Kevin P Kern, SVP, Marketing for Konica Business Solutions USA, Inc. “Continuously delivering exceptional innovation and providing hardware solutions for our customers is at the core of what we do. Organizations can dramatically enhance business agility, while containing or reducing costs, thanks to some of the most efficient machines in the industry.”
There are six categories (scanners, high-volume machines, color MFP, color single-function printers, BW MFP, and BW single-function printers) with two winners per category. Both Konica Minolta bizhub 654e and bizhub 754e are placed in the high-volume category.

“Konica Minolta has continued to enhance their rugged production models, and these models are no exception,” says Melissa Pardo Bunte, Editor with Better Buys for Business. “We especially want to recognize its upgraded INFO-Palette design functionality as well as its continued compliance to data security.”

Let documents flow – Konica Minolta’s CeBIT Preview

cebit-2015

“Let documents flow” is the Konica Minolta slogan for CeBIT 2015, held 16-20 March in Hanover. At today’s CeBIT Press Preview, the global leader in the consultancy, implementation and management of printing and document solutions in the area of IT and document processes illustrated how the company will present itself in CeBIT Hall 3 where the focus is on ECM and Input/Output Solutions (Booth D36). After 9 years of participation as a co-exhibitor, the CeBIT’s successful relaunch in 2014 as a specialised trade fair that exclusively targets business customers was sufficient reason for Konica Minolta to renew its CeBIT commitment with its own exhibition space.

Unstructured document processes have considerable negative impact on business and ultimately cost companies unnecessary time and money. Estimates say that knowledge workers spend up to 50 per cent of their time looking for specific content items. However, searching for a piece of information for more than half an hour is equivalent to losing the document altogether, because the labour costs associated with hunting a document down outweigh its average value. Surveys show that 7.5 per cent of corporate documents go missing every year, which means one in fourteen is lost.1

To improve their document-based business processes, companies of all sizes and from all industrial sectors depend on Enterprise Content Management systems (ECM) as part of Managed Content Services (MCS). These companies want to get away from their paper-based workflows and force digital business processes, targeting higher efficiency and mobile access from everywhere.

“But we are aware that many companies still see big barriers in going this way of digitalisation. Besides, the cost of printing is just one part of the entire document management costs. Konica Minolta supports companies in driving a less-print strategy by reducing operational expenses and delivering access to information in the most effective manner possible. We help our customers identify their cost factors, quantify these costs, reduce and manage them effectively”, says Olaf Lorenz, General Manager International Marketing Division, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “We know there are tremendous efficiency gains to be made from improving the document management throughout an enterprise. Also, these gains can be achieved without significant capital expenditure, which is why such solutions are especially attractive for small and medium-sized companies.”

The first step is to understand customers’ business processes in terms of document management. The next is to implement improved processes, software and hardware. Once all that is in place, Konica Minolta helps the customer run his infrastructure and update it as needed.

Konica Minolta’s MCS is tailored to the individual digital workflows of customers aiming to increase their operating efficiency. Through its MCS programme, Konica Minolta targets revenues of 100 million dollars worldwide in the coming three years. In 2014 Gartner acknowledged Konica Minolta to be a leader in the field of MCS.2

“The Konica Minolta approach takes the entire document management process into account. This is our specific expertise, which we gained over the past 10 years. And this is the reason why we are now increasing our engagement in MCS/ECM”, explains Olaf Lorenz. With the focus of Hall 3 on „ECM, Input/Output Solutions“ visitors will be offered competent consulting as well as a complete overview of efficient and secure document and print management
solutions.

David Shikfu Parradang OFR, Comptroller-General, Nigerian Immigration Service and Special Guest of Honour and Mr Izzat Debs, Managing Director, Skysat Technologies Nigeria Ltd., during the tape cutting at the official launch of Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C1100 digital printing machine.

The world’s leading digital printing solutions company, Konica Minolta, has raised the stakes in the Nigerian market with the introduction of the Biz-Hub C1100 digital printing machine. The C1100 was formally launched at a ceremony in Abuja last week.

Speaking at the event, Izzat Debs, Managing Director of Skysat Technologies, exclusive distributors of Konica Minolta in Nigeria and West Africa, said that the C1100 parades the world’s latest technology in digital printing.

The Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C1100 Series is a state-of-the-art Press with sophisticated features designed to significantly enhance productivity and improve the quality of print solution for our customers. 100% light fastness, no whitening – Best results delivered by Konica Minolta production printing systems

KM black

With degree “6” in the Blue Wool Scale1 the Fogra Forschungsgesellschaft Druck e.V. acknowledged the Simitri® HD E toner from Konica Minolta, used in all current production printing systems2 with a very good light fastness. This result is complemented by a refresh certification for food safety by TÜV Rhineland and for Deinkability by INGEDE, which previous Simitri® toners achieved already in 2011 respective 2010.

Depending whether a print product is exposed to daylight or artificial light in indoor rooms, different requirements are made to the used materials to avoid significant colour changes through light exposition. Light fastness is an important quality criterion for graphic communication providers and in-house print rooms as this ensures that print products do not lose their quality by whitening. With the very good Fogra test results the Simitri® HD E toner has now been acknowledged that customers can rely on their product’s light fastness printed on a Konica Minolta production printing system.

Furthermore, the a fresh certification of a good deinkability by INGEDE ensures professionals who already use one of the current production printing systems, or are planning to buy one, can be sure that they are not printing at the expense of the environment while achieving excellent deinking properties and contribute to further closing of the paper loop. The re-approved food safety certification by TÜV Rhineland gives additional opportunities for entering new markets like package printing.

Mark Hinder, Market Development Manager for Production Print at Konica Minolta commented “As we continue to see the market recover, businesses are demanding and expecting more. We are committed to continue to provide innovation through our products and services in a bid to support our customers capturing new market opportunities. Through our Digital 1234 business development programme and the work we are doing to build the Konica Minolta User association content Prokom, we will continue to heavily invest in research and consultancy to allow customers to benefit from innovation ”.

The Bizhub PRESS C1100, designed specifically for graphic communication providers, central reprographic departments and anyone with high print demands. The bizhub PRESS C1100 and C1085 offer outstanding performance, with increased print quality and productivity that again demonstrates Konica Minolta’s ability to innovate technology to drive new market opportunities.

The TÜV Rhineland AG and INGEDE e.V., both with their headquarters in Germany, operate European wide. The German Fogra Forschungsgesellschaft Druck e.V. sets up ISO norm standards which are disposed worldwide. With all three reports Konica Minolta offers to graphic communication providers and in-house print rooms the most flexible production printing systems. “With the new Simitri® HD E toner we have developed a toner that is considered qualitative the best so far. This is further underlined by the three independent reports. So we are proud to offer our customers such fantastic opportunities,” emphasises Karl-Friedrich Edenhuizen, Product Manager Colour Devices, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe.

1 For testing the light fastness Fogra is using the Blue Wool Standards (degrees 1 to 8), where degree 1 stands for “fugitive” and 8 for “good light fast ness”.

2 The following production printing systems of Konica Minolta use the Simitri® HD E toner: bizhub PRO C1060L, bizhub PRO C1060, bizhub PRO C1070, bizhub PRESS C1060, bizhub PRESS C1070, bizhub PRESS C1070P, bizhub PRESS C1070P, bizhub PRESS C1085, bizhub PRESS C1100

Rajasthan gets its first Konica Minolta C1060

NewPPG

Jaipur-based Colour Prints became the first printer in Rajasthan to install a Konica Minolta C1060 digital print production press. The press was launched in May 2014, and it has been well received by the printing community.

According to the sources at Monotech Systems, one of the Indian representatives of Konica Minolta, the print production system is for print providers who expect greater quality, productivity and scalability. It gives quick turnaround with superior quality that quickly turns in a profit.
Pranav Kumar Lakhotia, owner of Colour Prints, started operations with a reprographic centre in Kolkata, which earned the reputation of being quality printout centre. Continuing with the trend, he opened another centre at Jaipur with HP5000ps to capture the vulnerable market of indoor branding in Rajasthan. Later, he added solvent-based machines and subsequently eco-solvent printers to cater to both indoor and outdoor prints.
Colour Prints operates as a print service provider for flex, vinyl, one-way vision, canvas prints, etc. and has most of the advertising agencies in Jaipur as its client. With its skilled and dedicated staff, Colour Prints today is one of the pioneers in quality publicity and display prints in Rajasthan. The company has started its operations in Hyderabad as well.
“With a vision to diversify and stand ahead in quality output, Colour Prints chose Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C1060 to start its operations in short run prints. The firm, stationed right in the heart of the Pink City, strongly believes that the prints taken out from this 19 inch by 13 inch printer will set new standards in quality,” Lakhotia said.

2015 New Year’s Greetings from the President, Shoei Yamana

Striving for Proprietary Technical Innovation and “Creative Destruction” for Successful Implementation of Our Growth Strategy

shoei yamana

Happy New Year!

Though the consumption tax hike in April 2014 has caused concern over Japan’s economic prospects, stock prices have remained at high levels, backed mainly by the economic policies launched by the Japanese government and the Bank of Japan, as well as favorable exchange rates. However, true revitalization of the Japanese economy cannot be achieved without successful implementation of a growth strategy. In this sense, I think we will approach a crucial stage in 2015 where the ability of Japan to increase its presence in the global economy is tested. While I hope the Japanese government will take positive measures for reforms such as deregulation, I also believe that private companies should join forces for successful implementation of a growth strategy.

With this understanding, at Konica Minolta we are determined to continue group-wide efforts to create new growth engines and deliver greater value to customers. In April 2014, we announced a three-year medium-term business plan, TRANSFORM 2016. Our determination is precisely summarized in the concept of transformation presented in this plan. In 2014, we steadily achieved results in our efforts to transform our business portfolio in line with the basic policy of this plan: to realize sustainable profit growth; to transform into a customer-centric company; and to establish a strong corporate structure.

We will continue our efforts toward transformation in 2015, the second year of the medium-term business plan, by taking bold steps to accelerate the implementation of a growth strategy in each business category along with category-specific measures. Among other things, we should be able to offer products and services developed with our proprietary technologies, thereby differentiating ourselves from competitors, and establishing competitive advantage. Another equally important thing is to bring about “creative destruction.” No business model can be sustained forever. I believe that companies should be able to see each business operation from a broader perspective and, even if it is profitable at the time, have the courage to temporarily destroy an existing business structure if doing so is necessary to develop a new business model. We will accelerate business development by leveraging our human assets on a global basis, while taking aggressive and decisive action for technical innovation. On the other hand, we are aware that we cannot satisfy customer needs in all areas of business and on a timely basis if we stick to our proprietary technologies and know-how only. Therefore, we will enhance our ability to work in alliance with reliable partners outside of the Konica Minolta Group to bring ideal solutions to our customers more promptly. At the same time, we are aware of the necessity of enhancing the significance and value of our business for society and developing human assets capable of contributing to social good if we are to ensure the sustainable growth of our company. We will also strive to increase our earning capacity or the ability to make profits, so that we can invest substantially in our future growth and also deliver appropriate returns to our shareholders. We will make consistent efforts toward structural reform and greater efficiency to largely enhance our productivity.

Since FY 2014, the Konica Minolta Group has been working seriously to reestablish our management philosophy and ingrain the philosophy in all our employees (more than 40,000 people). In particular, we have placed importance on putting into practice the 6 Values, which are our credo and decision-making criteria, thereby changing the way we act in our daily business activities and enhancing our executive ability to deliver greater value to customers.

In concluding my greeting, I would like to offer my sincere wishes for your health and happiness this year. Your continued encouragement and support to the Konica Minolta Group is very much appreciated.

BLI Honours Konica Minolta C3350 with Outstanding Achievement Award for Energy Efficiency

EOA_SEALS_ 2013

The Konica Minolta bizhub C3350 outshone the competition thanks to its 43 percent lower than average estimated annual energy consumption rate, which helped it gain a BLI Outstanding Achievement award for energy efficiency for the Winter 2015 test season. With an estimated annual energy consumption rate that’s 51 percent lower than the average of A4 monochrome MFPs for midsize/large workgroups tested to date, the Konica Minolta bizhub 4750 also earned a BLI Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency award. In addition, both devices’ tested toner yields exceeded rated yields during testing. Job review and proof modes help to reduce paper and consumables waste and toner-save mode for print output helps to reduce toner use. The units also meet the requirements for US ENERGY STAR, EU RoHS, Canada EcoLogo, ECMA-370/The Eco Declaration, Germany Blue Angel, Japan Eco Mark and Korea Eco Label.
